Dr. Şenel FC
Dr. Senel earned a D.D.S. from Ankara University, Ankara, Türkiye. She completed a residency and PhD degree in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Ankara University in 2001. She served as the head of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Karadeniz Technical University, Trabzon, Türkiye where she became a professor in 2013, between 2004 and 2015. Her international experience includes a research fellowship in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Washington Hospital Center, US, and completion of "Principles and Applications of Clinical Research" certificate programs at the National Institute of Health (NIH), US. She was a visiting professor at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Washington Hospital Center, DC in 2013. In 2017, she also worked on projects as a visiting professor at the National Institutes of Health and the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research in the USA. She has been a professor at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazit University, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Ankara, Türkiye since 2022.
In addition to her work in oral and maxillofacial surgery, Senel conducted scientific research and various projects focused on improving the quality of healthcare services. Her studies addressed topics such as patient and workplace safety, system management, fundamental rights, discrimination against employees and patients, as well as ethics and accreditation. She was appointed Chairperson of the Türkiye Health Care Quality and Accreditation Institute, Health Institutes of Türkiye in 2018 and continues to serve in this role. From 2021 to 2022, she worked as the Secretary General of the Presidency of Türkiye Health Institutes.
Senel was also a member of the National Higher Education Quality Board and served as Chairperson of the Commission for the Recognition and Authorization of External Evaluation and Accreditation Bodies from 2018 to 2022.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, she was the only Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon member on the National Coronavirus Scientific Advisory Board for the Ministry of Health, contributing to the development of national policies. She was the vice president the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Society (ACBID) in Türkiye and currently a member of the board of directors. She served as principal advisor to four PhDs in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. She has a number of research, projects and serves as an editor for multiple books.
